WWE Money in the Bank Results for 2020 as released by Forbes saw Asuka claim the women’s briefcase, while in a somewhat of a surprise, Otis won the men’s briefcase. Otis’ stock continues to rise after winning Mandy Rose’s heart at WrestleMania 36.
WWE Money in the Bank Results 2020: See Names of Winners & Losers.
WWE Money in the Bank Winners Category
Winner: Asuka
Through shear talent and star power alone, Asuka has slowly, but surely, climbed out of the latest hole dug by the incorrigible mismanagement of her character.
Despite being SmackDown women’s champion just weeks out of WrestleMania 35, Asuka was phased out of WrestleMania main event plans when she lost the title to Charlotte in a televised match.
Despite popping in and out of relative obscurity, Asuka eventually broke through yet again through her entertaining tag team with Asuka and the reprisal of her feud with top star Becky Lynch.
Winner: Otis
Otis was the big winner of the night in terms of an unproven star taking a large next step. As nice as it was to see Asuka win the women’s Money in the Bank briefcase, she hardly needs the briefcase. Asuka has enjoyed a mostly successful run on the main roster in spite of intermittent hiccups.
WWE is taking an uncharacteristic risk with Otis given his unconventional look and comedic sensibilities. But with unquestioned charisma, and passing every test placed in front of him thus far, there’s no reason not to believe he will be a darling of live crowds whenever wrestling resumes.
Winner: Drew McIntyre
WWE continues its refreshing dedication toward Drew McIntyre, who can do no wrong as a babyface thus far. WWE has booked McIntyre to thrive on competition, shake hands with an opponent after a match and never be outsmarted by a heel.
All old-school babyface tropes from a bygone era, all of which can still work like a charm.
Much like the entire world was forced to do before McIntyre could be properly coronated, WWE has gone back to basics in booking its top champion.
WWE Money in the Bank Losers Category
Loser: Shayna Baszler
Noticeably quiet throughout the Money in the Bank match—she did not even appear in the climactic rooftop scene—Shayna Baszler came away the big loser for the night. Even as the smart money shifted heavily in Asuka’s favor, Baszler was listed at second with +355 odds, not too far off from eventual men’s winner Otis.
Shayna Baszler has had several early, high-profile losses that are quickly outpacing any good she has done on the main roster. Hopefully WWE feels she does not need the Money in the Bank if she resumes her world title program with Becky Lynch.
Loser: Bray Wyatt
Though many still have The Fiend’s next world championship win penciled-in, despite Bray Wyatt losing clean to Braun Strowman, Bray Wyatt’s character lost considerable momentum after choosing to wrestle in his human form. Wyatt’s last such choice happened against The Miz at WWE TLC 2019 in a non-title match.
Knowing Wyatt has such a powerful force at his disposal, his decision to challenge a monster for the brand’s most important championship is baffling, unless (in canon) he was shrewdly giving himself a practice run.
