 Unibadan Distance Learning Faculty of Arts Admission Requirements………Before you consider any course in faculty art Distance Learning Center University of Ibadan, it is important you know whether you have the requirements or not. Therefore, this piece of information would provide you with the necessary and valid requirements for the courses in the faculty of arts University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre. Note that only candidates with the following requirements would be considered for admission into the various department in Faculty of Arts.

B.A. (HONS.) PHILOSOPHY & PUBLIC AFFAIRS

O’LEVEL MODE (5-YEAR MODE)

Five or six O’ Level credits at One or TWO sittings in English Language, another Arts subjects and any other subjects in Arts, Science or the Social Sciences.

DIRECT ENTRY (4-YEAR MODE)

Candidates with two A-Level papers, NCE, OND and HND, 1st Degree from any discipline are eligible provided they meet O Level requirements of English Language, one Arts subject and any other subjects from Arts, Social Sciences and Science.

 SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Apart from English Language, another Arts subject is required for both Direct and O Level admissions into Philosophy and Public Affairs.

 

BA (HONS) COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE ARTS

O’LEVEL MODE (5-YEAR MODE)

Five ‘O’ Level credit passes at one sitting or Six ‘O’ Level credit passes at two sittings to include English Language, Literature-in-English, another Arts subject, and other subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.

DIRECT ENTRY (4-YEAR MODE)

a) OND (Mass Communication from a recognised Polytechnic) with an Upper Credit grade only in addition to O level requirement.

b). Two A Level passes or NCE at merit level (from a recognised College of Education) to include English Language and one other Arts or Social Sciences subject in addition to O level requirement.

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Candidates with HND (Mass Communication, at least Lower Credit grade) are also eligible for 4-year Direct Entry admission. Candidates (irrespective of year of graduation) with Grade II Teachers’ Certificate (TC II) with credit or merit passes in at least five (5) subjects to include English Language, Literature-in-English, another Arts subject, and any other two Arts or Social Sciences subjects may be considered for the 5-year mode.


 

B.A. (HONS.) ENGLISH

O’LEVEL MODE (5-YEAR MODE)

Five or six ‘O’ Level credits in English Language, Literature-in-English another Arts Subject in other subjects from Arts or The Social Sciences.

DIRECT ENTRY (4-YEAR MODE)

Candidates with at least 2 A-level papers in English & Literature-in- English, NCE, OND, HND, 1st Degree in relevant disciplines plus 5 O/L credits at ONE sitting or 6 O/L credits at TWO sittings including English Language, Literature-in-English, another Arts subject and any other combination of Arts or Social Sciences are eligible for 4-year Direct Entry admission.

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Literature-in- English is compulsory for English Language. Prospective candidates should note that relevant disciplines for Direct Entry Admission into the Department of English include:
English Language Linguistics Mass Communication, and other disciplines similar to the above stated.
