Many might wonder about the criteria, which makes a good student. Many people still adhere to stereotype definition of a good student being one who has achieved academic excellence. I, certainly, have an opinion, which differs from theirs. A good student has to diligent and committed to learning. As the old saying goes, “We live in and learn”. No matter who, where, what or when, a good student stays focused and is not afraid to question. A good student is able to learn and apply skills, which are taught directly and indirectly, in or outside the classroom. He has the ability to access the information given and the initiative to further research the topics taught in school. During school hours, a good student stays alert at all times and has an inquisitive mind. Self-reliance will be his motto in achieving greater heights or success. Besides that, he is pro-active in learning and always has group discussions with peers and friends. A good student has the creative mind to explore and experiment with different ways and means of memorizing facts and figures. He is able to make notes, which are simple yet, complete. Therefore, the test or examinations will be faced with a calm and prepared frame of mind.
Quality and Benefit of a Good Student in the University
However, On this critical deduction of a good student and benefit of been a good student, OLANREWAJU AYORINDE of Faculty of Social Science , Political Science Department precisely University of Ibadan Nigeria have earned himself the quality of a good students and had consequently added a Honorary Award of the Most Scholar of the Year, to his name. During the presentation of the Award in his honor, a funding grant was given for his Masters (MSc) program.
Most young people believe that all they need to do in order to be good students is to read hard to earn knowledge and get the highest scores. As they grow up, they finally realize that a good student also needs to be an active person in the school and community in general. A good student should be hard working since it is hard to get good results and academic success without training and effort. It is hard to earn knowledge and those who are not willing enough to face academic challenges and do not have passion for working hard will never achieve their goals and succeed in their lives. And furthermore, good student should also be active in the community activities. He should be appreciated not only by his academic success but also by his social activities as well. A good person is usually measure not only by what he is doing well for himself but also by what he is contributing for his community.
Therefore, this article serves as an intrinsic motivation to all students and also would earn you understanding of the subject matter of a good student, a sense of relevance to life and the world, a sense of accomplishment in mastering it, and a sense of calling to it.
