ASUU Chairman Biography – Victor Emmanuel Osodeke, a Professor of Soil Science, has newly been elected National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
Osodeke, a Professor of Soil Science at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, was the immediate National Vice President of the union.
Osodeke took over from Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi who led ASUU during a period it engaged the government in a long battle for a better funding of the sector, welfare demands and the call for the abrogation of the contentious Integrated Payroll Personnel and Information System, IPPIS.
He is a professor of Soil Science and served as the Director Continue Education Centre (CEC) MOUAU.

Prof Victor Emmanuel Osodeke held the job of lecturer at Delta State University in Abraka in addition to his leadership.
He serves as a visiting lecturer in the faculties of the Universities of Calabar and Cape Coast in Ghana. On May 30, 2021, he was chosen to serve as the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ national president.

Early Life Education: Osodeke was born in the town of Kokori, which is part of the state of Delta’s Ethiope East Local Government. From Rivers State University of Science and Technology, he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1987.
He graduated with a Master of Science from the University of Ibadan three years later. His Postgraduate Diploma in Agro-Meteorology from the Israeli Institute of Meteorology was awarded to him in 1994.
From there, he continued on to Michael Okpara University of Agriculture in Umudike, where he earned his PhD in agro-meteorology in 2002.
