This is to ensure that your number is not disconnected from accessing Airtel service like SMS, buying airtime, voice calls and access to internet. 1. USSD Code

This is considered the fastest and easiest way to link your NIN to your Airtel line because, you don’t necessarily need to have  smartphone or have internet connection to carry it out. All you need to do is:

  • Dial *121*1# on your Airtel line.
  • You will be directed to enter your 11-digit NIN code.
  • Enter NIN code.
  • Then you will receive a “Thank you for entering your NIN” text.
  • You will receive an option to either “Enter your other Airtel number” or “End.”
  • Shortly after, you will receive a confirmation message: “Thank you for providing your NIN details (NIN). SMS confirmation will be sent to you once your NIN has been validated and updated.”

2. Airtel NIN Portal (Online)

You can link your NIN to your Airtel line anytime and anywhere using Airtel portal without stress. But, it is important that you must be connected to the internet, unlike using the USSD code, which does not require internet connection. You have to follow this steps:

  • Visit the official website of Airtel.
  • Click on “NIN”.
  • Enter your Airtel number starting with either “8″ or “9.”
  • Click on “Send OTP” to receive your One-Time Password.
  • Enter your email address or an alternative phone number. Click on “Proceed”.
  • Enter the OTP and confirm.
  • Enter your NIN and confirm to complete the process.

3. Using the NIMC Mobile ID App

You can also link your NIN via the mobile app, which allows you to operate the steps easily. And also require internet access to enable the use of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) mobile app.

  • Download the NIMC Mobile ID app on Google Play Store or Apple Store
  • Open the app and enter your information
  • Enter your 11-digit NIN
  • Enter the OTP for verification
  • Click on “My Devices”
  • Enter the mobile number and the OTP and confirm
