List of Telecom Network to Operate 5G in Nigeria.

The Federal Government has approved the deployment of the Fifth Generation Network, otherwise called 5G in Nigeria.

The telecom network to operate 5G in Nigeria are MTN Nigeria plc, Mafab Communications Limited and Airtel Networks Limited. NCC Indications have emerged that telecom operators, MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria and Mafab , will  be the first three players to deploy the Fifth Generation, 5G network in Nigeria by 2022.“

Following the approval,  Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is et to commence immediate implementation of the 5G plan for the country.

The roll-out of the 5G will be carried out in phases beginning with major cities in the country “where there is need for high quality broadband.”

The successful and timely deployment of 5G is crucial. 5G is will  facilitate several emerging technologies, generate innovative use cases, spur significant socio-economic growth and create jobs.

List of Telecom Network to Operate 5G in Nigeria.

 Following the approval of the 5G network implementation for the country, here’s the list of telecom network to operate 5G in Nigeria:

1. Airtel Networks Limited Nigeria.

NCC has approved Airtel Networks Limited Nigeria to commence the operation of  5G  network across Nigeria. The trials ought to have happened this September 2021, but very soon it will commence in 2022.

Airtel Networks Limited is a leading telecommunications services provider with headquarters in Lagos, the commercial nerve-centre of Nigeria.

AIRTEL NETWORKS LIMITED is located in Lagos, Nigeria and is part of the Other Telecommunications Industry. AIRTEL NETWORKS LIMITED generates $875,094 in sales (USD).

According to the Subscribers statistics released by Nigerian Communications Commission on 30 August 2019, Airtel Nigeria has 26.8% mobile telephone market share and 46.8 million subscribers.

2. MTN Nigeria plc.

Telecommunications firm, MTN is the second network operator approved to operate 5G network in Nigeria. MTN  has revealed plans to latch onto the deployment of Fifth Generation (5G) technology to expand its services in Nigeria.

MTN Nigeria Communications Limited provides cellular telecommunications services in Nigeria. It offers cellular network access and information and communications technologies (ICT) solutions.

The company also provides Internet services, such as video calling, data services and Internet browsing, mobile Internet, and mobile wi-fi services.

In addition, it offers international roaming services, including data roaming, in-flight roaming, and wi-fi roaming services.

Further, the company provides voice short message service (SMS), fashion and lifestyle tips, mobile television (TV), bulk short message service (SMS), mobile newspaper, radio, back up, conference call, and missed call alert services

3. Mafab Communications Limited.

Mafab Communications Limited is the third telecom network to operate 5G in Nigeria. Mafab Communications Limited was incorporated on the 8th of July, 2020 and licensed by the Nigerian Telecommunications commission to provide and operate Local Interconnect and International carrier services.

Mafab Communications has an IDA (International Data Access) License from the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) to terminate traffic to all destinations worldwide.
