1.  Physician Assistantship (Diploma)

Duration: Three (3) years

Brief Description:

Physician Assistants are trained and expected to provide holistic health care to individuals, deliver effective, promotive, preventive and curative health, mainly at the sub-district and district levels.

The training of Physician Assistants, which began in the early 1960s, became necessary due to the shortage and misdistribution of physicians in the country.

Further development of the Health Care Delivery System based on the Primary Health Care approach has also emphasized the need to train special type of health workers to deal with common diseases that constitute over 80% of diseases afflicting Ghanaians.

Admission Requirement

  • AggregateApplicants with SSSCE certificate  must have aggregate score of twenty-four (24) or better in six subjects, comprising: (3 core and 3 electives in pure science)
  • Applicantswith WASSCE certificate  must have aggregate score of Thirty-six (36) or better in six subjects, comprising: (3 core and 3 electives in pure science)    
  • Core Subjects and Minimum Grade: (A1 – C6 in WASSCE) OR (A-D in SSSCE) in all three Core Subject i.e. English,
  • Elective Subjects and Minimum Grades:
  • At least Credit i.e. (A-D in SSSCE) or Credit Passes (A1-C6) in WASSCE) in 3 elective subjects in any of the following:
    • Elective Mathematics
    • Biology
    • Physics
    • Chemistry
2.  Registered General Nursing (Diploma)

Duration: Three (3) years

Admission Requirement

  • Applicants with SSSCE certificatesmust have total aggregate of twenty-four (24) or better in six(6) subjects, comprising: A – D in all THREE CORE SUBJECTS- i.e. English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and AT LEAST Credit in  (3) Elective subjects in any of the following options(See Below):
  • Applicants with WASSCE Resultsmust obtain a minimum of six (6) Credit Passes (i.e. A1 –C6) in three (3) Core subjects and three (3) Elective subjects (See Table Below) with a total aggregate of Thirty Six (36) or better.
3.  Medical Laboratory Technology (Diploma)

Duration:  Three (3) years.

Admission Requirement

(A)  Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)

Grade D or better in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics, Integrated
Science or Social Studies) and three (3) elective subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics and
Elective Maths.

(B)  West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)

 Grade C6 or better in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics, Integrated
Science or Social Studies) and three (3) elective subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics and
Elective Maths.

4. Health Assistant Clinical (Certificate)

Duration: Two (2) years.

Admission Requirement

  • Applicants with SSSCE certificatesmust have total aggregate of Thirty (30) or better in

three (3) Core subjects, comprising: A – E in all THREE CORE SUBJECTS- i.e. English, 
          Mathematics and Integrated Science and (A-E) in any three (3) elective subjects from a
Programme. (See Below)

  • Applicants with WASSCE certificates must have an aggregate score of Forty Eight (48) or better Comprising (A1-E8)in three (3) Core subjectse. English, Mathematics and Integrated 

        Science and (A1-E8) in any three elective subjects from a programme. (See Below)

5.  Medical Laboratory Technician (Certificate)

Duration: Two (2) years.

Admission Requirement

 (A)  Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)

Grade D or better in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics, Integrated
Science or Social Studies) and any three (3) elective subjects. (See Below)

(B)West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)

Grade C6 or better in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics (Core), Integrated
Science or Social Studies) and any three (3) elective subjects.

6. Post Health Assistant Clinical/ Community Health Nurse Midwifery

Duration:  Two (2) years

Admission Requirements

  • Qualified Health Assistant or Community Health Nurse
  • One year post training working experience
  • A testimonial from current employer
  • Have no criminal record
  • Be medically fit certified by qualified Medical Officer

Application forms for admission may be purchased at the CASH OFFICE, (General Office) Narh-Bita College Main Campus (near Chemu Senior High School, Community 4,Tema) for a non-refundable fee of GH¢80.00.
